CFC Text Project

This is my Text Project, the project began with each member of the class writing a short essay on a piece of 20th century art that stood out to them, after constructing these essays we traded. Upon receiving the essay from a classmate i was not aware of the are work i was to recreate, i was simply to do it based off of their paragraph. We had to create one image strictly out of text and in a black and white format, the text i used in this piece is a poem i wrote in response to the paragraph from my classmate.
"As an unknown woman cries,
the future foresees the way she lies.
The pain she's in has no cure,
an inevitable ending of that she's sure.
Defenseless, vulnerable, unconcealed,
her reality is finally unveiled.
Doctors diagnosis proves to fail,
alone she fights this forceful gale.
Stripped raw of all she knows and loves,
praying for salvation from that above.
Exposed to all she ends her life,
free of poison, pain and strife."
This is the poem i composed in response to the paragraph and formed my pice around, my digital image, the second half of the assignment, looks similar to my text image because i wanted them to be shown as a piece.

Google Sketch Up

This was my Google SketchUp version of the "ideal" dorm room for a digital studio I assignment, each of these show a different view of the same project.

This is the second Assignment for my Modeling Space Marketing Time studio, it consisted of taping the same image from two different angles and then showing them as one. The objectives were to provide multiple and simultaneous perspectives of a subject and to further familiarize yourself with the camera with the camera by exploring various techniques for framing, controlling exposure, depth of field and focus.

This was the first video completed for my Modeling Space and Marketing Time studio class, the assignment requested a visual representation of opening, entering, exiting and closing.  I chose to use the body to exemplify space in the "Jacket" opening is the action of removing the jacket from he hanger, entering is putting the jacket on, exiting it zipping up the jacket (the shirt exits the scene), and closing is the torso going back to the original position.
The second video, "Notebook",  is a separate variation of the same project, taking the pens cap off typifies opening, entering and exiting appear as the hand writing, and closing is putting the pens cap on and placing it on the sheet.

Consumption and Waste: An Extension to the Human Body

Final

Consumption and Waste: An Extension to the Human Body

Progress

These are images of the project taken in class on a review day, the tops is a straight forward view of the project. The next uses the idea of the extension inhibiting the body through its size, the arms have difficulty maneuvering around the giant ears, the next picture is a back view of the ears, as seen they are worn similar to ear muffs around the head. The last two views are the process of putting the ear plugs in the ears so that the wearer cannot hear the outside world.

Consumption and Waste: An Extension to the Human Body

Sketch
This is the preliminary sketch for this body extension project. As i brainstormed this piece i began to contemplate the idea of a body extension inhibiting one from doing every day tasks rather than aiding in such tasks. my initial idea was to take a normal body part and increase the size similarly to Claes Oldenburg's work. Oldenberg thought that increasing an everyday objects size can transform it into art. I had a intended a similar concept and created giant ears however i didn't think the size alone would inhibit the wearer, i then came up with the idea that these giant ears would play with irony. These Ears which one may believe to assist in ones ability to hear would realistically restrict their sense of sound.
